Phoebe Whiting May Blog Update - We’re off to the Royal International horse show!

This month we have been preparing to go to the BSPS area 14 show with all three ponies. In preparation we took both Sox and Charlie to a pole work rally with AB which was perfect for getting them thinking and back into the swing of it. We also took Jerry to Littleton manor cross country schooling in preparation for his first ever WHP class. I was so lucky that the horse quest bursary meant I went to our first show feeling confident and prepared.

After an early start, the ponies and I had a very successful day out to the BSPS area 14 show, coming away with two RIHS qualifications!

We had an excellent show, starting with Sox being super in the wind for his first show back just slightly tense in his first class but still going very nicely to pick up 1st in the RI Open 14.2hh Show pony and then go champion, to pick up a RIHS ticket. He then went beautifully in the RI Pretty Polly Show Pony class to come 1st coming away with another RIHS ticket. I decided to not do the RI PBA as he was getting tired and had done so well already and I wanted to leave on a positive note for our next show. I am so pleased with how calm he was even in the wind and really could not have asked for any better. It was so nice to see him all bathed, plaited, having pristine white socks and wearing a Rossetti again. I definitely had withdrawals and missed going to shows, i even missed the early start and I am so excited for our next show.

Next up was Jerry who did his first ever Novice WHP class. He looked so smart and it was nice to see him all plaited up and looking very handsome. He did the sweetest clear round, making it all very easy, he then did a lovely show and confirmation to come 4th! So proud of him and how grown up he looked can’t wait for the future with him.

Finally, it was Charlie’s turn. It was me and Charlie’s first show together so I wasn't expecting much, he was very happy to be out and did a very calm first class in the RI Pretty Polly Intermediate Show horse to just miss out on the RI qualification coming 2nd, he then went foot perfect in the RI Large PBA. Couldn’t be more pleased with him.

Thank you much Horse quest for making it possible for all 3 ponies being fully prepared and able to go to the same show and making it possible for us to come home with two RIHS qualifications. I am overjoyed to have such a positive start to the season, can’t wait for what the rest of the season ahead holds for us.
